ARDUCAMERA, THE ARDUINO DIGICAM

Flickr user arms22 built this neat Arduino-based camera, including a LS20031 GPS receiver and a C328 640×480 camera module, with a SD card to store images.
Make contributor John Baichtal posted a wonderful project from arms22. He has taken very nice picture of his own version of previous jarv’s Arduino Camera Geotagger.

ARDUINO ON EKSTRA BLADET NATIONEN.TV
March 13th, 2010
–
Ekstra Bladet is a Danish paper that has a quite large online version. This week they have a small online TV documentary about Arduino’s presence at the OSD conference in Copenhagen last week. We cannot embed their video in our site (they give no chance to do so) but visit this link to see it. If you watch the clip you will notice there is a Pong game made with a series of RGB LED matrixes by the guys at BSD-DK, as well as a whole display of different projects that can be made with Arduino … that was a nice job! For the next Open Source Days, please remember I live just across the Oresund, and send me an invitation, thanks
THE NATIONAL ASSOCIATION FOR AMATEUR RADIO (US)
March 13th, 2010

The AARL is the US National Association for Amateur Radio with over 150.000 members. This month they published a Quiz on their website that included a question about the term “Arduino”. We have been getting some visits to our website from them during the last days. If you are into electronics in general and radio in particular, you should maybe take a look at their website. Here some facts:
By 1914, there were thousands of Amateur Radio operators–hams–in the United States. Hiram Percy Maxim, a leading Hartford, Connecticut, inventor and industrialist saw the need for an organization to band together this fledgling group of radio experimenters. In May 1914 he founded the American Radio Relay League (ARRL) to meet that need.Today ARRL, with approximately 157,000 members, is the largest organization of radio amateurs in the United States. The ARRL is a not-for-profit organization that:
- promotes interest in Amateur Radio communications and experimentation
- represents US radio amateurs in legislative matters, and
- maintains fraternalism and a high standard of conduct among Amateur Radio operators.
At ARRL headquarters in the Hartford suburb of Newington, a staff of 120 helps serve the needs of members. ARRL is also International Secretariat for the International Amateur Radio Union, which is made up of similar societies in 150 countries around the world.

check the video and some pics & video of this musica project.
Antonia Shultz comments:
The 3 knobs at the left are there to change pattern, pitch and speed. The small red button records the pitch change. The 2 knobs on the right control volume and another pattern of some magnetic sticks hitting the wall (“klack klack klack”).
CHATDUINO: AN AIM CLIENT FOR ARDUINO/WIZNET 5100
March 11th, 2010
–
*stunned* by harvesting the web I cam across this wonderful Chatduino project.
[andre rapp] explains “This is an AIM instant messenger client for Arduino/Wiznet 5100, which allows you to communicate with your Arduino project from anywhere on the internet, in near real-time. You can communicate with your project through any AIM client or even your cell phone by using text messaging with Mobile AIM, and since communication is channeled though the AIM server, both the Arduino+Wiznet and chat client can exist behind firewalls.”
Download Chatduino. Thanks Andrew.

GOBETWINO: ARDUINO TALKING TO EXCEL

Up the circuit to move your first steps using Gobetwino to make interesting things on Windows. More tutorial on Gobetwuino here, and on Gobetwino site.
This program rules. The Arduino can now send words to the serial port and Gobetwino takes them as commands and does handy stuff like create csv’s send email etc. I’ve tested out this program by making the Arduino log the voltage of a discharging capacitor and send the details to Gobetwino to make a csv for Excel.

SUPER MARIO BROTHERS WITH AN ARDUINO
March 10th, 2010

Definetly one of the more interesting “post-vintage” things I have seen around. Chloe Fan, a stundent from Carnegie Mellon University practice her knowledge of Arduino and Microcontrollers in this Super Mario related game (I created a simple version of Super Mario Bros using an 8×8 LED matrix (one color), an Arduino Nano, two buttons for the input (forward and jump), and a piezo sensor hooked to a separate Arduino for the theme song.)
Checkout the Vimeo link for code & list of hardware.
And please don’t miss the first comment from Box thor.
